New Faces on the Executive Committee
Lee Alderman and Craig Cobia have recently joined the HR/TD Council’s Executive Committee. Alderman has served as training manager for Redwood Credit Union (RCU) since 2001. RCU is a $1-billion asset credit union with over 113,000 members in the northern San Francisco Bay area. His primary role throughout his 23-year training career has been helping organizations create job-based training programs that lead to successful transfer to the work environment. He recently assisted with the strategy and training for the rollout of Cisco Systems’ Learning Object strategy, and co-authored the book Creating Reusable Learning Objects: Leveraging Information and Learning in a Knowledge Economy. His experience in designing job-based training includes working with corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations. Alderman has presented papers at numerous conference sessions and workshops, as well as delivered seminars around the world, starting with his first International Society for Performance Improvement conference dating back to 1986, when he spoke about the importance of transfer of training. “I’m very excited and honored to serve on the Executive Committee,” says Alderman. “I hope that I can follow in the footsteps of past committee members in making the HR/TD Council a tremendous resource for all council members.” Craig Cobia Craig Cobia is vice president, HR director, and chief marketing officer for Beehive Federal Credit Union in Rexburg, Idaho. Beehive FCU has assets of about $84 million and serves over 14,000 members. Cobia has advanced degrees in human resource training and development and education. His PhD from the University of Idaho studied the application of Stephen R. Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People on business, industry, and family life. His professional career includes a variety of financial and administration experience, including serving as a senior business analyst for Hughes Aircraft Company. Cobia is in his 11 th year with Beehive FCU. He has also been a conference speaker on business and financial matters and is the author of several articles in credit union and adult-education magazines and journals. “I am hoping to bring the smaller credit union perspective to the Executive Committee,” Cobia says. “It’s nice being part of a group whose leadership listens to those they serve. I feel the HR Council executive committee is such a group.”
